Every year in the past I've told myself that "next year i'll go to a first friday event." And, it has come to the point where I can no longer put off going. Overall, i really enjoyed the experience, It was a lot different than what I expected, a lot less formal and definetly more relaxed than most art viewing experiences I've had. There was a really neat exhibition at EDIT gallery, "God at I Level" which had some really stunning photographs of people as well as background info on the culture. I felt like the artist statement and description of the exhibition were really important to this collection of works. There were some other galleries we visited which had pieces that stuck out to me, like the triangular sculptures by Shannon Wright at ADA. There was a large variety of medium at ADA which made it one of my favorite galleries. These pieces really made me think about what medium is best for a work. I saw the variety that people work with and it's interesting to see the risks they took.
