I really enjoyed the George Ferrandi Lunchtime Lecture today at school. It was really interesting to learn about her thought process with a piece and what some of her ideas were about art/ life. I really liked what she said about making mistakes or coming across problems. She said that she likes to celebrate and highlight the mistakes rather than hide them away. I feel like this idea could really help me with my work and my process. I tend to get caught up in mistakes I make in a piece and rather than building on them and learning i tend to focus and attach on to all the negative. I really started to wonder about her thought process. It seemed like her works were so different in subject/ medium. Most artist seem to focus on a certain style and medium and then advance in that but she seemed to have a variety. I wonder why she chooses to work like this and if it's a conscious choice to make something completely different from the last. I liked something she said later in the show about noticing little detail and finding ways to replicate that. I think i could definitely work on looking at and for the little details in the work and find ways to emphasize or create more from them.
