This year, I've learned a lot about composition, and working to arrange and rearrange your composition. I've definitely improved how I view the importance of composition. This has been important for both figure drawings and for other assignments like paintings. I'm more willing to try something new and crop things more than i was at the start of the year. I think i've also leaned a lot about goals and completion of my work. Sometimes the end product won't look how i picture it in my head, and at the start of the year i still struggled with this a lot. Now, I've learned and become more comfortable with accepting that my work might not always turn out as planned.
I think I've grown a lot in terms of finding what type of art i enjoy making. At the start of this year, I didn't really know much about what was good at. Through this, I also think i've grown a lot in my mark and the style of my work. I've seen this a lot in my sketchbook, figure drawings, and most recently in my Fantastic 4 projects. I think my observation skills have improved, especially since many of the projects we've worked on have focused on observation.
I think though, that while ive improved in my observation skills, they still need a lot of work. I'm still lacking and weak in making observational pieces in a short time. I need to work on being more confident with my lines, especially with figure drawings. I still spend too much time focusing on sketching and resketching my gesture drawings. If i was more secure in my observational skills, it would reduce the amount of time i spend on planning, rather than adding color.
I think moving forward next year ill kinda know going in what type of art i want to make. Since we've experimented with a lot of stuff, i've kinda figured out what i like and dont like. I'll also have a stronger background in terms of composition. This will be extremely helpful next year, as composition can make or break a piece.
